Tennis - July 2007

Well we were all hoping for a great match up...all we got was a drubbing (as the pommies say) Sharapove is relegated to the grunting (dressing room) ....Venus won in a walkover

Lets all shed a tear...not because we hate Maria because we love to see Venus shining again. Lets face it none of us would like to be washed up before Thirty and we all like to see mature people have a crack at something like Wimbledon...Serena is playing as we speak, yes it isn't Martina V chris Evertt but I think we would all like to know the names of the finalists..there is room for young bloods in Tennis but Wimbledon is our institution..leave the no name match for the US open..Love a fmailiar match up...cheers to the Girls...let the Men go on their boring predictable ways..Nadal, Federer, roddick...bla bla..the favourites are kicking butts and swimming in Rolexes....heres to our lovelly Sport Tennis.....

For all us late night Wimbledon watchers this year has been Frustrating to say the least..I remember rain delays before but I am not sure if it has ever been this bad.....one to consult the history books over I guess.

Sharapova and Venus got relegated to Court 3 last night and reports are that they weren't too happy about the walk and some gloomy faces matched the clouds that brought Thunder, lightning and rain after just 3 whole points......

Due to the unprecedented Bad Weather the results are pretty much a Dog's breakfast.....Federer is cruising through as expected but some big names such as Nadal and Roddick are still struggling to finnish their thrid round matches: they have been on and off the court several times. Hewitt got through before the downpour but stated the Stopping and starting is a mental battle even though they are all in it together.....

Mauresmo is gone....losing to an eighteen year old Czech Nicole Vaidisova in her own words "everything went wrong today" ......All eyes are on the Williams sisters with the two huge clashes, Serena v Henin Hardin and Venus v Sharapova....

All in all a lgoomy Wimbledon that is hard to follow lets hope the sun comes out so we can enjoy the business end of the Tournament and watch for more than five minutes at a time.
