And the only winner today is the rain

June 27th 2006 12:08
Roger Federer opened Wimbledon with a first-round match against Richard Gasquet started promisingly, breaking the teenager's serve in the Frenchmen's opening game and leading 3-0. Unfortunately after that the rain started (as typically expected at Wimbledon). After the drizzle the game continued and Roger won the first set 6-3, Richard never able to level. Then the rain started. Again. And that was it for Wimbledon Day 1, they continue today, hopefully finishing their matches!!

The official "Day 2" schedule includes Andre Agassi, who has announced his retirement at this year's US Open, his home tournament, after a chronic back injury that has made him skip both the Australian and French Opens this year already.

Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick are also on today.

Check out Roger's jacket as he walked on:

It has "Federer" on the pocket and the Federer Coat of Arms, in Gold. Egotistical or Class?
