Hewitt v Blake, FedExpress rolls on.
June 18th 2006 01:08
Lleyton Hewitt will face James Blake in the Stella Artois Finals after defeating British Tim Henman in 3 sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. James Blake caused the biggest upset of the day, beating fellow American Andy Roddick, 7-5, 6-4.
Otherwise known as "Queens", the Stella Artois championships are seen as the lead-up tournament to Wimbledon. However, both Lleyton James Blake will have more than a handful of problems trying to defeat Roger Federer, who progressed to the finals at the Gerry Webber Open in Halle, Germany, facing Czech Tomas Berdych. Federer has won the previous 3 Wimbly titles, and should he beat Tomas tomorrow he will equal Bjorn Bjorg's grass-court record of 41 straight wins.
Federer beat German Tommy Haas in the semi-final, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-3, while Berdych beat Kristof Vliegen 6-3, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
