So okay, Australian Tennis..

May 16th 2006 21:09
Lleyton Hewitt has cracked the top ten again for the first time since...well, the first tiime in a while.

Lleyton has not won any tournaments since the Sydney International last year and was unable to beat James Blake or Andy Murray in the finals of Las Vegas and San Jose respectively. Because of this Lleyton's ranking had slipped to 14 early on in the year.

Hewitt did not play in the clay season this time last year because of a rib injury and hence he would gain points in any rounds he wins on clay this year, pushing him back into the top ten. However, a leg injury seems to have prevented him from playing in the Masters Series in Monte Carlo, Rome, and he will also be missing out on the Hamburg Tournament this week. He has stayed in Australia to practice following the Davis Cup tie against Belarus which was in Melbourne.

However Lleyton has agreed to play in Argentina in our next Davis Cup tie! Kudos to him for that.

Lleyton was with his wife Bec and baby Mia at the Logie Awards to present an award.
