US Open Day 1 Summary and Andy Roddick

September 1st 2009 04:49

Lemme start by saying that I'm glad ESPN picked up coverage. During Roddick's match, John and Pat McEnroe, as well as Andre Agassi commented on the match. That was pretty cool, and a welcome change to the norm.

I'm writing this post, watching Andy's ear bleed while playing a German player that jumps when he hits his one handed backhand. Let me just say that this doesn't happen very often.

All in all, today had some good tennis, and no big upsets occurred. Federer and Blake had some nice matches and some other, lower seeded players had nice matches too.

Mostly though, everyone's waiting for tomorrow, looking for some sort of upset, some signal to show what this year's open will be like.

Roddick made quick work of his opponent, minus a hiccup in the beginning of the second set. He won 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. He looked really good and I think he could make it to the semis if he plays well.
